This tool shows resources shared by Server Message Block protocol (SMB, Microsoft sometimes refers it as CIPE). Shared items are divided to three categories: stations, shared disks and shared printers. HView is designed especially to create lists of computers in the network (creates log) and to overall monitoring of computers and shared disks. It finds out IP address of each computer, working group that the computer belongs to, and its MAC address. In some cases, the MAC address detection may fail. In this case, the MAC address field contains ??:??:??:??:??:??. It happens especially when scanning SAMBA server, because usually it cannot conveniently handle MAC address request. Each shared directory may be opened by double clicking in the Microsoft Explorer.
